30 May 2007 Many questions were asked before the start of this month's tournament: Q. Will Vad once again show that he is the "best division 1 player in the world, ever"? A. No Q. Will Marta take her good form of the cup final day tournament and finally perform on a Wednesday? Or should that be, finally get a good draw? A. Not really Q. Can Robert reclaim the title of best Shark? A. No Q. Will Rob Hughes finally make his debut in a tournament? A. No and the most important question of them all ... Q. Lucy or Lucie? A. Lucy And Pete moved above Marc in the rankings, so he should have no doubts anymore about the impartiality of the computer. Or should he.....? The big story of yesterday was of course the splendid victory of Albert. We all knew he had talent, but would he ever show it when it really mattered? Well, yesterday he did! Four massive wins and an unfortunate loss in the final game, which he played bravely despite being hampered by injury. Pete and Eric (finally!) shared second spot, just before Gabriele and Marc, all four of them also winning four of their five games. Jarek surprisingly finished at the bottom, despite stiff competition from Lucie and Robert.

Player of the year Now that Pantelis has played in 50% of the games, he finally has earned the right to appear in the ranking. And not just anywhere. He has taken over the lead from Gabriele. No other big changes in the overall rankings, with last month's top-four remaining in the same order. It looks like it will be a close finish between Gab, Guillem and Pantelis, who will only qualify for the final rankings if he turns up for the next tournament. Lucy seems to have made the decisive move in her bid to become the best girl. Marc looks set to be the top Shark (or Goldfish?), although Eric may still try to stake his claim.
